What are Credit Cards?!? I'm wary and confused!?

What are these things? Yeah, I know the basics, buy something on a credit card and you pay it back later in installments and there's interest... but what are other things I need to know when applying for my first credit card? Whats APR? Whats annual interest or whatever?! I NEED HELP!!!
